Adam Lister
Born in Fairfax Virginia in 1978; Adam Lister earned his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2003. He builds paintings out of stacked pixel-like blocks that recall Atari and Nintendo graphics; working mainly in watercolor. His Art History 101 series breaks down classics such as Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam into minimal grids of color. Earlier pop culture pieces pixelated Star Wars figures like Yoda and Princess Leia as well as scenes from The Godfather. Designboom; Yatzer and Creative Boom have covered the work; and GR Gallery represents him. His paintings have been exhibited across the United States and in the Netherlands; Germany and the United Kingdom. Trading card collectors can find him in 2026 Topps Chrome VeeFriends; where he was one of the artists VeeFriends spotlighted on its sketch card roster. He posts new paintings on Instagram at @adamlisterstudio.
